We currently have a two year position open at the Associate Professor level, with an emphasis on separation technology in bioprocesses. Separation of substrates, solid-liquid separations, and efficient downstream processing for product purification are key success parameters in the new generation of biorefinery processes. These processes include biocatalysis-based upgrading of various types of biomass to bioenergy compounds, platform building blocks, functional food ingredients, and fine chemicals. The particular research focus in the position is on establishing a new knowledge framework for predicting and optimizing membrane separation strategies in novel biorefinery processes. The position is anchored in the Center for BioProcess Engineering at the Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering DTU. Responsibilities
- Perform independent research; prepare new project plans and experimental protocols.
- Prepare scientific articles and presentations related to the research.
- Play a leadership role in projects leading to new knowledge, and new processes and (bio)products.
- Supervise PhD, M.Sc. and undergraduate students.
- Secure the build-up and maintenance of our technology base in membrane technology via active exploitation of internal and external contacts in academia and industry.
- Prepare new grant applications.
- Teach at the M.Sc. level in Membrane Technology.
Qualifications Candidates must
- hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) in Biochemical/Chemical Engineering more specific within extraction and separation technology in bioprocesses.
- as well as academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding an Assistant Professorship
- document didactic/pedagogic training. Experience with teaching and student supervision in the field of bioprocess separation technologies, notably membrane reactor and membrane separation technology.
- have a proven track record of research, including papers, and successful fund raising.
- experience with cultural diversity and/or international networking and project participation.
- must be able to travel domestically, as well as internationally, as required.
Assessment In the assessment of the candidate consideration will be given to
- experience in teaching and education
- scientific production and research potential at an international level
- the ability to promote and utilize research results
- an all-round experience basis, preferably including international experience
- the ability to contribute to development of the department’s internal and external cooperation
Salary and terms of employment The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with Confederation of Professional Associations., The allowance will be agreed with the relevant Union.
